Hip Reviews
“Dr. Winkel is truly an exceptional surgeon as well as a very caring, patient person with a tremendous bedside manner. One of Reno’s finest. His staff is equally impressive, and I would say that it’s 100% excellence.”

“I was impressed with Dr. Winkel from the beginning. He is a sharp guy, young, bright, intelligent, and knows his business. We were on the same page from the start. From the materials used to the details of the procedure, right down to recovery. I researched all of it myself and had decided before our interaction which materials I wanted implanted. This took careful thought because, over the years, some materials were found to cause problems later. Titanium is an excellent material that I have worked with professionally as a machinist. I am proud to say that I made parts of the M1A1 Abrams tank, which our military still uses today. Titanium and human bone work very well together. The bone grows around the titanium and reinforces it. Like the case of my younger son, who has 2 titanium rods and 6 titanium screws that keep his spine as close to normal as it can get, giving him the ability to continue to work a very physical job. Titanium does have its limitations. The good doctor didn’t have to explain that to me, because I researched it on my own, and I absolutely recommend that anyone who looks forward to any structural procedure do the same. It really helps to know as much as you can because Dr. Winkel is a busy guy. It definitely saves the doctor time when you already know what needs to be done. I don’t think we spent more than 15 minutes going through the procedure. I trust Dr. Winkel; he can carve on me again if my right hip goes south.”
