“Dr. Barcohana knows my back well and is spot on when diagnosing any irritations or soreness I experience for an extended period. I totally trust him and respect his opinion. He has performed a few surgeries on it, and I have been very happy with the results.”
– Patricia E.
“Dr. Barcohana and PAC Kishimoto have taken wonderful care of me over these past months. I am thankful they took the time and understanding to explore treatment options. I am happy to report that after the last treatment, an injection, I have been symptom-free for a considerable time.”
– William S.
“I sought an apt after I experienced a sudden increase in pain in the lower back and hip area that tracked down the back of the thighs to the knee area. After a couple of weeks without change, I made the apt and saw Dr. Barcohana. He made an investigation of the region and offered two paths to follow simultaneously. The therapy was immediate with a hip operation at a later time. The treatment solved my immediate condition, and I felt that I did not wish to pursue the surgery at present. But all personnel with whom I had contact were top of the line in knowledge, descriptive talents, and in service-oriented personalities. I very much appreciate all that they were able to provide to achieve understanding and relief in a short time.”
– Noel P.
“He was very thorough and informative. I also saw his PA who was also excellent.”
– Jacqueline S.
Back Reviews
“Dr. Barcohana is an exceptional surgeon. Presenting a long history of back problems and five previous surgeries from various surgeons, Dr. Barcohana was able to give me a new lease on life. At 59 years old, I have been able to return to many activities I had given up.”
– Mark K.
“If you're looking at reviews for surgeons, it's a miserable feeling because we're unique, and it's so hard to tell if one way is better than another. But I have to say, as a veteran of several back surgeries, I am in a much better place, having had Dr. Barcohana operate on my neck and low back. I am 60, very active, and returned to play golf sooner than anyone expected. A lot has to do with motivation to succeed, and there's some genetics to be sure, but Dr. Barcohana chipped off and repaired so much spine I am pain-free on rainy days and able to ride my bike again. I thought that was gone about four years ago. Was it cut and go? No, there's work to be done after surgery, but Dr. Barcohana put me in the very best place I could be to start my rehabilitation. You only have one shot at life, and I don't want to compromise and quit sports until I can't, so I did the right thing: went and saw Barbak Barcohana, M.D. What a difference he and everyone at SCOI have made in my life.”
– David H.
“I believe that Dr. Barcohana has given me a new lease on life. He operated on my neck, and I have a better range of motion than before my anterior discectomy and fusion, with artificial discs and a cage. Sounds like a lot of work? I'll bet it was, but I'm so much the better for it because no one would know — not even the "scar" shows. No more neck pain, at all. Then my low back stenosis caught up with me in a fraught situation that required urgent surgery, interfering with my ability to walk, dropped foot, and all. Here comes Bob to the rescue! A multi-level laminectomy but without instrumentation was what I needed, and six weeks later, I kid you not, I was on the golf course playing (yes, yes, gradually building up my swing) and now I'm working out and stretching. I am back! Babak Barcohana, M.D., is Backman!”

Hip Reviews
“Dr. Barcohana is extremely professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and highly skilled. I was very fortunate to have him as my surgeon. I am recommending him to my family and friends. The staff was superior, efficient and the whole location was safe and sanitary. I got 100% the best care around. Keep up the great work.”
– Marc K.
Spine Reviews
“Dr. Barcohana performed decompression surgery on my lumbar area. Everything was coordinated quite well, and I am in recovery mode at this time. As far as I can tell, the surgery went well. All involved from start to finish (hospital staff and SCOI staff) made the experience as good as one could have expected.”
– John C.
“Meticulous. I've had my share of surgery and then some. I am very grateful to Dr. Barcohana. My 3-level cervical discectomy and fusion with a cage and artificial discs was a tremendous success that relieved me of all pain, limitation and allowed me to start golf, etc. I only regret waiting. Recently, a combination of age-related degenerative changes and walking the course herniated me at two different levels, so I'm post-op again. I credit Bob with knowing me better than my Mom, who still thinks she knows me better than I know myself. Tip a cap to a very adroit C-PA, Ms. Kishimoto, who is very competent and caring. The two work hand-in-glove, and you want that with a spine. Cheers.”
